This was produced by Guardian Unlimited "in association" with lastminute.com to promote their carbon-offsetting product. The company contracted GU Commercial to produce a series of articles on carbon offsetting. GU Commercial asked me to write the three articles. In the end I took my byline off them because the company wanted a bit too much editorial control - that's copywriting or advertising and should be (but wasn't) paid accordingly. They're online here by way of record, and because it was an interesting exercise in the fine line (and response) that exists when doing this sort of grey-area stuff.
